I have to be honest with you guys this DVD as a whole was lackluster, there are moments of WWE brilliance but as a collection it doesn’t match up to any of my previous title reviews this year.
Extreme Rules forever known as the shadow of Wrestlemania displayed some great line up matches, I will choose my favorite and discuss them but don’t get your hopes up guys, one huge earth shattering event and then its back to basics.
Note: I would talk about the Chris Jericho vs Fandango fight but the shits getting old now, I can’t stand fandango and for that reason alone the match will be excluded from this review.
John Cena Vs Ryback – Last Man Standing match
So much hype was built around this match, would The Shield get involved? Who would be triumphant? who would deliver the final blow? The match is an all out slug fest with Ryback showing this hulk like strength to batter Cena into the ground. It all looks a little too easy in this last man standing match for Ryback until the action goes outside of the ring.
Then it is Cena on the front foot delivering some huge blows and a nice little leap from a small balcony crashing through Ryback and a table on the way down. The main stand out moment as you all may know if you have seen it was the final act, John Cena and Ryback on the stage, with John about to end the fight with a final finishing move before Ryback counters and ……… well you’ll have to watch that to find out.
Its safe to say if that was scripted then it was done extremely well, whether John Cena is truly injured or not remains to be seen, but wow what an ending to the match, now THAT’S extreme rules.
Triple H vs Brock Lesnar – Steel Cage Match
The thing I love about the WWE is the question your always asking, is he hurt, is he faking it and once again that question comes into play during this match up. Brock Lesnar isn’t afraid of getting hurt he took up UFC as a hobby ! He’s one tough cookie! But one quick maneuver and his knee gets badly hurt. Now I’m not a doctor or anything but Brock’s knee actually looked incredibly bruised and swollen. Could this be a fight worth watching?
The answer to that being yes ! A great match up with twists and turns, Brock Lesnar attempting F5’s hobbling around like an old drunk. It is quite an entertaining watch and watching Triple H lay a pedigree down on Paul Heyman has made my year, I cannot stand that idiot! An all out brawl from 2 veterans and I’m sure that match won’t be the last we see of those 2!
