This is an interesting movie to watch this month of August. What Happened to Monday is science fiction thriller movie distributed by Netflix. The movie was released on 18 August 2017 in the UK, US, France, and Belgium. It is directed by Tommy Wirkola and written by Max Botkin and Kerry Williamson. The sci-fi flick tells a story basing on overpopulation and famine. In the year 2073, overpopulation and famine that have forced governments to adopt “One-child policy”. Child Allocation Bureau is formed to support Child Allocation Act. Seven identical sisters live in hiding as they fear for their lives. Even games at online gambling sites based on the actors would be big hits.
Their grandfather’s strategy is to make sure that the identical sisters are not discovered. The sisters shared the same identity and used makeup to deceive people from recognizing them. The sisters were named Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each sister goes out of the hiding once a week.
One of the sisters fails to return home on and the other sisters try to track her using the bracelet, however, it is offline. They try to retrace what happened to Monday that caused her to fail to come home. The other sister named Tuesday poses as the missing sister and goes to her workplace to ask her secretary where she went after work. Tuesday is then detained by government agents and transferred to their headquarters.
At the headquarters, Tuesday is informed by the Child Allocation Bureau head that they have become aware of the other sisters and they are to be killed by agents. Their house is raided and their grandfather is killed in the process. The hiding spot is discovered and all the sisters are ordered to surrender themselves. They retaliate against the government until the Child Allocation Act is repealed.
Noomi Rapace, Willem Dafoe, Glenn Close, Robert Wagner, Warwan Kenzari, Tomiwa Edun, Stig Henriksen and Vlad Radescu are starring in this movie. A cast that can make anything entertaining. The movie has a runtime of 123 minutes.
