Short Film Stationary Begins Its Crowdfunding Journey

As you know Back to the Movies is very picky about promoting crowdfunding campaigns. They have to stand out, they have to have substance and potential and Stationary meets the bill and so much more.

Taking place in a parked car over the course of one afternoon, former drug dealer Jimmy (23) confronts his drug dealing childhood best friend Che (22) about the dangerous road she is leading her younger brother down.

Drawing inspiration from films such as Drive starring Ryan Gosling and Locke starring Tom Hardy. Stationary looks to be an intricate and interesting tale. It’ll be interesting to see how they can achieve a depth of story in a short-film duration but i’m excited to find out.

Turn The Slate Productions has come on board upcoming short film ‘Stationary’ as Executive Producers. The film is written and to be directed by London filmmaker Louis Chan whose previous short documentary ‘Ilia’ screened at the BAFTA-affiliated Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York in 2016. Selected recently for the BAFTA Crew x BFI Network talent programme, Chan is also an alumni of B3 Media`s talent programme and Encounters` Widening the Lens.

The film is to be produced by Jonathan Caicedo-Galindo and the director of photography is NFTS-trained Samira Oberberg. The preproduction is well underway and the team has launched a recent crowdfund campaign on Kickstarter.

The project is loosely based on Chan`s upbringing in North West London and a close friend whose life spiralled out of control. Chan`s script deals with the coming together of once close friends and the path that the younger sibling of one of the principals will take. Casting of the main characters has been completed with some exciting upcoming talent confirmed in Aaron Thomas Ward, Rebekah Murrell and young Xavien Russell who was seen previously in a pivotal role in Channel 4`s acclaimed ‘Top Boy’. Shooting is slated for mid-July with plans to promote the film at film festivals in 2019.
