Sam Mendes has officially announced that he’s finished with the James Bond franchise.

Speaking at the Hay Festival of Literature in Wales, Mendes said “It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it,” Mendes is quoted by the Associated Press as saying. “But I think it’s time for somebody else.”

“I’m a storyteller. And at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters,” he added.

So we have Daniel Craig up in the air about reprising his role which I imagine will not be happening now that Mendes has left and was believed to be the only reason that Daniel Craig did Spectre.

Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Jamie Bell have all been linked to the role but it’s safe to say for now, the 007 franchise is in a bit of a crisis.
