June, London – BAFTA Rising Star winner Noel Clarke will debut two new films at this year’s Edinburgh Film Festival it was announced yesterday.
Sci-fi thriller The Anomaly will premiere at the festival on Thursday 19th June. Directed by and starring Noel Clarke and also featuring Ian Somerhalder, Brian Cox, Alexis Knapp and Luke Hemsworth, The Anomaly is the story of a traumatised ex-soldier who wakes up in the back of a van, alongside a kidnapped boy where he learns that he only has a few minutes to learn how he got there.
The Anomaly will be released in cinemas on July 4th.
The harrowing We Are Monster, produced by Unstoppable Entertainment, Noel Clarke’s production company, is based on the true story of Robert Stewart who murdered British Asian teenager Zahid Mubarek when he was placed in a cell with him at the Feltham Young Offenders Institute in the year 2000. The film has been nominated for the Michael Powell Award, rewarding imagination and creativity in British filmmaking, and will premiere at the festival on Friday 20th June.
Empire Magazine will be interviewing Noel to discuss his latest projects on Friday June 20th at The Lyceum Theatre.
Born in West London, actor, writer and director Noel Clarke has been awarded the Most Promising Performer at the 2003 Olivier Awards and was also the recipient of the 2009 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award. Noel is best known for his roles in Dr Who alongside David Tennant, his portrayal of Sam Peel in Kidulthood, a film produced from his own original screenplay, and the cult classic follow-up Adulthood in which Noel took on the role of director. In 2010 Clarke wrote, directed and starred in the hit film 18.104.22.168., in 2012 directed Fast Girls and last year appeared in the new Star Trek movie, directed by J.J. Abrams. This autumn he will appear in ITV drama Chasing Shadows alongside Reece Shearsmith and Alex Kingston.
