In an interview with Billboard, David Fincher revealed the next season of Netflix’s hit Mindhunter will focus on the Atlanta murders of 1979 to 1981 (also known as the Atlanta Child Murders) committed by Wayne Williams. There has been a lot of press regarding the mysterious ADT serviceman from Kansas perhaps being the BTK Killer, Dennis Rader, but for now, the only details we know is that a main arc of the second season will be set in Atlanta regarding the case of 28 African-American children, teenagers, and adults being murdered.
“Next year we’re looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we’ll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice,” Fincher said. “The music will evolve. It’s intended to support what’s happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons.”
For those looking for a film that tackles the BTK Killer, Stephen Kay directed a 2005 film, The Hunt for the BTK, starring Gregg Henry as a dead ringer for Dennis Rader, and Robert Forster as Detective Jason Magida who brings the BTK to justice.
