Now I had mixed reviews of Sharknado as at the time I was based in LA working on my first first film in person (The Pre-Production of Fear Clinic) so naturally I was happy 24-7 so when I was sitting in a Santa Monica condo watching this for the first time, instantly I was like oh wow, life is good, everything is great so naturally I enjoyed the film as I loved how pathetic it was. I loved the cheesy horror, the gore, the comedy and the so bad it was good element.
As I boarded the plane home back to London, I thought on the plane, what the hell did I watch over there, it was the biggest load of crap I’d ever seen yet somehow I enjoyed it. Is this the Sharknado effect or was it just nostalgia from my awesome overseas trip.. Who knows but a second one is on the way so I’m sure this theory will be put to the test.
Get ready for the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty to be rained on by sharks in a tornado I guess..
The sequel to last year’s surprising hit will be set in New York City with original stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziewring confirmed to reprise their roles as April and Fin. I’m actually happy about this as it shows consistency that sharks follow these guys where ever they go. Tara Reid was the only reason I watched the film for its full duration anyways, isn’t she pretty.
Anthony Ferrante will return to direct, with original screenwriter Thunder Levin also back amongst the action.
The Second One will see a freak weather system turn deadly once again, unleashing a whirlwind of sharks on the population of New York City. Surf’s up!
Is any of this sounding familiar…. its like the first one.. but in NYC.. great marketing guys !! Next bring them to Texas, see how they fair against the gun slinging cowboys!
The Asylum’s COO, Paul Bales, added, “We’re thrilled to be able to bring back the talent that made Sharknado a hit. Can lightning strike twice? I don’t know, but it’s a scientific fact that you’re more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark. This film will have lightning and sharks, so that’s got to count for something.”
Sharknado 2 will begin filming in New York on 13 February and is expected to premiere on Syfy this July.
We’re not looking forward to it as such but it is one to look out for, who knows lightning may strike twice, or this film may of bitten off more than it can chew.
