LONDON – MAY 2014. Gloucester Place Films has now backed 19 productions in the last 12 months with a total production value of some $85m.
Gloucester Place Films is a subsidiary of Matador Pictures and manages the film financing activities of the business. It advises a number of EIS companies which make sales advances that producers are able to use to finance gap and to cash flow tax credits and sales contracts for both UK and international productions. Between them, the companies have raised over $45m.
Projects backed include: Jimi: All is by My Side (Official Selection Toronto International Film Festival 2013 and SXSW 2014), written and directed by Academy award winning writer John Ridley (12 Years A Slave) and starring Andre Benjamin, Imogen Poots and Hayley Atwell, the BAFTA-nominated Good Vibrations (Mark Kermode’s ‘Best Film of 2013’); Ironclad: Battle for Blood (directed by Jonathan English), distributed in the UK by Warner Bros; The Knife That Killed Me (directed by Kit Monkman and Marcus Romer), distributed in the UK by Universal; web-series Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist for Machinima; Stranded (starring Christian Slater); and Gold directed by Niall Heery.Another recent GPF-backed production Snow in Paradise, directed by Andrew Hulme, has been selected for Un Certain Regard and is included in Empire Magazine’s Top 10 most exciting films to look out for at Cannes.
