Friend and Fear Clinic star Robert Englund will be the centre point of the new documentary Nightmares in the Makeup Chair.
Entertainment Weekly posted the exclusive. The documentary will be directed by Mike Kerz and will focus on Englund recalling his years stuck in the make-up chair whilst his Freddy makeup was being replied over many hours each and every single day. The documentary will also pay tribute to Wes Craven. Robert Kurtzman will also be featured, Robert is the incredible makeup effects arist who transforms Robert into the infamous nightmare child killer.
I will be one of the first people to jump at the chance to see this as I am one of the lucky few who have witnessed Robert getting into make-up first hand and oh my does your inner Horror geek ooze and the seems watching the transformation.
“Nightmares in the Makeup Chair is my love letter to the Nightmare on Elm Street series and to practical makeup,” says Englund in an interview with EW. “I’ve always been in awe of the multi-talented makeup effects artists. From sketching to sculpting, they realize the design. Then to the fine precision of the molding and the manufacturing of the makeup appliances which are nearly paper thin. And then, the application process where I sit in the makeup chair and I become their living canvas as they glue me in and paint the appliances. This documentary not only captures their talent, but I think it might inspire a new generation of practical effects artists. I was happy to become Freddy once again to share the makeup process with the fans.”
Nightmares in the Makeup Chair will premiere at a film festival later this year (Not announced which one). But until then you can find out more information at the film’s official site. Here is a teaser trailer for Nightmares in the Makeup Chair:
