Director del Toro’s TROLLHUNTERS to be published by Hot Key Books

Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro will publish his first children’s book TROLLHUNTERS in the UK with Hot Key Books. Rights have already sold to 11 translation territories and the UK & Commonwealth rights were won in a hotly contested auction. The deal was brokered by Creative Works Group with Fletcher and Co; Tilda Johnson is the editor on the project. The book was co-written with Daniel Kraus and is a rich and fantastical horror adventure for teen and adult readers.

In San Bernardino, California, children are going missing.

The townspeople don’t believe the rumours of trolls, but 14-year-old Jim Jnr knows that they’re a very real threat.

At night, is anyone safe?

TROLLHUNTERS is a funny, gruesome and undeniably del Toro-esque adventure perfect for teen readers and fans of Pan’s Labyrinth.

Editor Tilda Johnson said “TROLLHUNTERS is effortlessly engaging. The storytelling is playful, atmospheric and action-packed, with a chill that won’t disappoint!”

Guillermo del Toro is the award-winning director of Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and Pacific Rim, and screenwriter of the recent Hobbit film adaptations. His latest film, Crimson Peak, will be released in October 2015 and stars Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam. Together with Chuck Hogan, del Toro wrote THE STRAIN trilogy, which the authors are currently producing as a cable series for FX Networks. Daniel Kraus is the award-winning author of THE MONSTER VARIATIONS, ROTTERS, SCOWLER and the forthcoming THE DEATH & LIFE OF ZEBULON FINCH.

TROLLHUNTERS will be published in the UK simultaneously with Disney Hyperion in the US on 30th June 2015. Pre-order is available now.
