My favourite little lunatic doll Chucky is back in a brand new film that will be out just in-time for Halloween. The seventh installment of the franchise titled Cult of Chucky will begin principal photography in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on Jan. 9.
Brad Dourif will once again voice the possessed doll and Brad’s real life daughter and Fear Clinic star Fiona Dourif will reprise her role of Nica Pierce. Don Mancini, who co-wrote the original film is back to both write and direct this one and the amount of excitement I have already is insane!
Cult of Chucky will focus around Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
Check out the little announcement trailer below. We cannot wait to join the cult!
