Battle of the Damned Review

Following a deadly viral outbreak, private military soldier Max Gatling (Lundgren) is enlisted to rescue a female survivor from the confines of the contaminated zone on the outskirts of civilisation. Gatling soon gets more than he bargained for when he is compelled to lead a group of survivors and a band

of deadly prototype robots against an army of the damned.

So I went into this film with an open mind and low and behold the first 15 minutes Dolph proves he can still kick some serious ass, 15 mins of zombie ass kicking but it doesn’t feel

like anything special. A very boring plot line of a missing girl lost in the realm of the infected and a rescue mission to save her.. where have we heard that storyline before.. over and over?

So one the 15 minute Dolph Lundgren show reel is over, the film dwells into the plot in

more detail as the female survivor is fount along with a small group of remaining survivors. The fighting scenes start to mount up in a high octane action flick and it starts to become more watchable due to the fact that there are great differences between this film and the bog standard zombie film.

First of all the reactions of the survivors, they react how people would react if a zombie

was attacking them, they fight for their lives instead of going down in dramatic fashion to become some zombie chow down. Secondly the film stands out compared to generic zombie films in the fashion that its actually watchable, the acting isn’t really up to high potential but I really wasn’t expecting as much, but its watchable and that’s what counts

. The plot has many holes but for genre fans it does the job of pleasing this zombie fanatic!

Another twist in a somewhat hole ridden plot introduces killer robots as the Sci Fi fans

around the world rejoice that robots are now in the mix laying waste to zombies turning them into pavement fertiliser. Its now time to sit back and relax and watch the humans team up with the robots to kick some ass !

If you don’t take the film too seriously you are going to love this flick, switch off your brain and enjoy Dolph kicking human ass with a little help with a few walking circuit boards !
