Renowned British artist Lincoln Townley has painted his collection of Hollywood legends, from the likes of Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Robert Downey Jnr and Harrison Ford.
As artist-in-residence for BAFTA LA, Lincoln is also taking part in Britweek in LA at the end of this month and will be returning to The Royal Academy of Art in June with his ‘ICONS’ Collection.
Townley’s artistic output is also defined by his original oil paintings, depicting figures drawn from the unconscious mind. Townley is known for his dark and disturbing images that reflect his own battles with addiction. His pieces depict a ferociously dark energy that really brings forth a personality onto canvas rather than a portrait.
Chantal Rickards, CEO of BAFTA Los Angeles – “When we were looking for a leading, contemporary artist to paint iconic figures from the world of film and television, there was only one obvious choice and that was Lincoln Townley. He has already painted portraits of many Hollywood Icons and his ability to capture the essence of these great performers is without equal”.
