With the upcoming Star Wars movie The Last Jedi being the last time we see the beautiful, late, great Carrie Fisher in action we pick out 10 things you may not have known about our beloved Princess Leia.
1.She hated her famous bun hairstyle and Costumes
She disliked the famous hairstyle she wore in the original Star Wars, she didn’t say anything about it incase she got fired her. She hated her white dress from A New Hope and her infamous metal golden bikini. She sfamously said “When I laid down, the metal bikini stayed up,” “So Boba Fett could see all the way to Florida.”
2. She had a rocky relationship with Director George Lucas.
In her bestselling memoir Wishful Drinking, Carrie tells her readers that “George Lucas ruined my life”
3.She beat some big names to land the role
Actress’s such as Glenn Close, Jessica Lange, Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Cybill Shepherd and Jane Seymour all auditioned for the role. But Carrie rose above them all and landed the role of a lifetime.
4. Her boobs were always strapped down in her costume
Her breasts were taped down with gaffer tape, as she wasn’t allowed to wear a bra underneath. “There is no underwear in space” she once joked.
5. She did some of her own stunts
For the scene where Luke and Leia swing to safety stunt doubles were not used. Instead Mark Hamill and Carrie performed the stunt themselves and shot it in one take.
6. She loved arguing with Harrison Ford
When asked what her favorite moment from the Star Wars trilogy she replied that her favorite moments were the arguing scenes between her and Harrison Ford. We later discovered about their on-set romance which would explain just a few of those on set arguments.
7.She was too short for certain scenes
For many of her scenes with Harrison Ford, Carrie had to stand on a box to get herself in the frame. She was infact around a foot shorter than Harrison Ford.
8. Princess Leia was nearly cut from the script
Lucas thought about changing Luke Skywalkers character into a woman and removing Leia from the script. We’re ever so glad he didn’t!
9. She has a strain of weed named after her
Carrie Fisher discovered there is a marijuana called Princess Leia after her daughter’s boyfriend tried to get a discount one time. We imagine the force is strong with that one
10. Her role was heavily promoted to attract a female audience
After finding out that men under 25 were interested in seeing the film. The studio decided to market the film to attract an older female audience. They did this by pushing images of humans, including Leia.
